Trying something new today and sharing 5 things occupying rent-free space on my mind this week.
My soulsibling @asoulversation and I put together this Disability Appreciation Reading Challenge. Check out the prompts below or join us on The Storygraph app to see what others are reading!
Roots of Labor Birth Collective’s first skillshare of the year is an offering from fellow collective member Jewel and I on Jan 28th called Coming Home to Self: Capacity Building for Femmes and I am immersed in thinking about all the ways we’re required to self-betray in order to meet society’s expectations and demands of us.
Edited: This skillshare has been postponed to March, deets coming soon!
“We can spend our entire life betraying ourself and choosing fitting in over standing alone. But once we've stood up for ourself and our beliefs, the bar is higher. A wild heart fights fitting in and grieves betrayal.”Brené Brown - Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone
I’m reading bell hook’s The Will to Change: Men, Masculinity & Love and in the first few minutes she hooked me entirely when she talks about how much patriarchy costs men. Rage and tears, y’all. Rage and tears.
Just downloaded the Routinery app because I love tracking habits to support my goals but my current health challenges are making my usual bujo habit unsustainable so I’m cutting anything repetitive wherever I can, using technology for good! Like a hero or whatever. I’ve tried a bunch of habit tracking apps and I am loving how this one has me thinking more deeply about how I start and end my days (‘cos the free version lets you make two routines and I chose those). Making that time more intentional is having an impact on everything and I’m giving myself space to course correct as needed!
Recorded this lil 2 min grounding and loving it. Definitely planning to record more this year!
Thanks for your support y’all. Appreciate you!
Is the audio of my recording above not working for anyone else? Lmk and I’ll re-upload it!
Love the graphic for the challenge. Haven’t seen that one before.
Also loving number 2. Interested.
